About

Mission and Vision

The Parallax Review is, first and foremost, a celebration of the photobook.

Photobooks are a fundamental way for photographers to tell complex stories and present sustained, cohesive bodies of work. By looking critically at photography books, we can better understand the qualities that make photography essential, relevant, and exceptional. TPR publishes in-depth reviews of photography books, as well as interviews with photographers and book publishers.

In addition, we publish essays that address critical questions in image-making and examine the intersections between photography and other fields, such as film, music, literature, and architecture. We endeavor to bring about a greater appreciation of individual photographers’ work while also placing photography in context and identifying the circumstances, communities, and movements that help shape and define their vision. The result is well-researched, scholarly content for a general audience.
